April 2025
In this month’s blog we take a look at our latest launch, Khao Chi noodle bowls, and explore ways to elevate these comforting little bowls of Indo-Chinese love into a delicious and filling meal.
Khao Chi’s latest launch features a duo of noodle bowls, inspired by the signature Indo-Chinese flavours – Manchurian and Schezwan.
Ready in just two minutes, our noodles bowls are perfect for lunch on the go, ready straight out of the microwaveable container, or to add some extras to create a satisfying dinner.
Our noodles are infused with chilli for a light and warm heat. They also include a separate chilli sachet for heat lovers.
Khao Chi noodle bowls are designed to be perfect and flavour packed, just as they are. However, if you have some leftover veggies and protein in the fridge, jazzing up a noodle bowl is a great way to create a balanced and hearty meal in minutes.
Turning any simple noodle bowl into a full-on meal is super easy and flexible! Here’s some handy tips.
The noodles
Start with your base noodle bowl
Add protein
This will make it more filling and balanced. Some easy options include:
Pain Relief: Sichuan pepper contains the compound hydroxy-alpha-sanshool, the molecule responsible for Szechuan peppers’ tingle-inducing ability. It is believed to have analgesic (pain-relieving) effects. Some studies suggest it may help with nerve pain or as a mild numbing agent. The intense numbing feeling that Sichuan generates around the mouth is probably its greatest claim to fame.Anti-inflammatory properties: The compounds in Sichuan pepper may help reduce inflammation. This could make it useful for conditions related to chronic inflammation, like arthritis.
Egg (soft-boiled, fried, poached, or even stirred in scrambled-style)
Chicken (leftovers, grilled, shredded rotisserie).
Tofu (pan-fried, baked, or even raw for a softer texture)
Beef or pork (thinly sliced or ground, cooked with a little soy sauce + garlic)
Prawns or canned tuna
Veggie boost
Toss in veggies for nutrients and texture. Use whatever you have:
Fresh Spinach, kale, bok choy, shredded cabbage, mushrooms, bell peppers, carrots
FrozenPeas, corn, broccoli, mixed veg (just steam or microwave them)
Pickled Kimchi, pickled radish, or even a little sauerkraut for tang
Consider adding a broth
If you fancy a ramen-style experience, you can enhance your noodles by creating an umami broth. Try:
Adding miso paste soy sauce, sesame oil or chilli oil
Tossing in a spoon of peanut butter or coconut milk/span>for richness
Using some additional stock or bouillon
Flavour boosters. For freshness, or to add a fiery kick, finish with:
• Sriracha, chilli crisp or hot sauce.
• Garlic or ginger (grated or sautéed).
• Green onions, cilantro or basil.
• Lime or lemon juice.
• Crushed peanuts or sesame seeds.
